Smart phone loader cranes
Fassi is introducing a new more user friendly interface for its loader cranes based on smart phone technology and hardware.
The company says that it is developing its new Human-Machine Interface (HMI) system to process the masses of data already available on modern cranes, in order to help make it easier for operators to understand it all and carry out their work with greater speed, precision, and safety.
It adds that today’s on-board systems for cranes, usually remote controlled, are so full of information that they require high levels of concentration from the operators to get the most out of the machine. It sees the amount of information and available functions continuing to grow and says that this will only be taken up by operators and fleet managers if it is available in an easy to use and manage format.

Fassi's new HMI system will be available on a smartphone
The Fassi HMI system, which it says is revolutionary and patented, is intended to make the crane easier and safer to use by making it easy for operators and fleet managers to make the most of and benefit from the latest system efficiencies though rapid analysis and interpretation of information. It achieves this by using the latest generation smartphones and telematics.
In essence it will use an App to set the parameters of the crane’s remote control levers, conduct rapid analysis and interpretation of crane-use statistics, consult Fassi Geo Locator to for nearest support centres and enable full crane interface using what it describes as a “spectacular graphic display. Thus making everything much easy to understand and more intuitive to use in comparison to the current information displays on remote controllers.”
