JLG to build booms in Romania

JLG is to move European production of its 450 Series II and 510AJ articulated boom lifts to its facility in Mediaş, Romania as part of its global production restructuring activities.

“The facility in Mediaş allows us to meet customer expectations by quickly responding to market requirements,” said Wayne Lawson, vice president of JLG for Europe, Africa and the Middle East . “Producing in the region will continue to allow rapid product delivery to customers and complements our other manufacturing locations in Europe.”

JLG Manufacturing Central Europe currently components for telehandler and European built articulated boom lifts. Located 60km from Sibiu in central Romania, it has undergone a thorough internal refurbishment and is equipped with a fully automated paint line, welding facilities and several assembly lines.

The JLG facility in Maasmechelen, Belgium will continue to produce European telehandlers, while providing parts, service and product distribution for the European market. ES electric scissor lifts are to be supplied from the comapny's facility in Tianjin, China, while Toucan mast booms are manufactured in Tonneins, France.
