Crane overturns in North Carolina
A large boom truck overturned in the East Flat Rock area of Hendersonville North Carolina yesterday, slicing a house in two. Thankfully no one was injured.

The overturned crane
The crane, a 35 ton Altec boom truck - owned and operated by C&M Crane - was lifting trees from the back yard of the house, when one of its rear outriggers punched through into a septic tank causing the unit to flip and the boom to cut through the house roof. The building was unoccupied at the time.
The crane was set up with outriggers fully extended with rudimentary cribbing under the pads – however there was clearly not sufficient load distribution to prevent the fracture of the underground tank.
