Crane flips into canal
A 90 tonne All Terrain crane overturned into canal in Bradford, UK, on Friday while travelling to a lift.
The crane, a Tadano Faun ATF90G-4 owned by Jardine Crane Hire – part of Specialist Hire Group - was travelling along a pre-prepared section of the tow path to replace a set of lock gates on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal at Apperley Bridge.

The crane ended up upside down in the canal
Thankfully no one was injured and the operator apparently managed to jump clear of the crane as it slipped into the water after the side of the canal gave way.
Oil control booms have been placed around the crane to prevent any oils or fuel from spreading, while Fuel was pumped out of the crane.

Vertikal Comment
Canal side work can be risky at any time, but has probably been exasperated by the recent wet weather in the UK. The big challenge now will be recovering the crane, given the space available and ground conditions.

Thank God the driver was OK
