Tower does big turbine lift
Liebherr’s largest tower crane model - the 1000 EC-B 125 Litronic - has installed a fully assembled wind rotor assembly on a 142.5 metre tower.
The flat top was assembled with a 155.5 metre hook height and shared the same foundation as the turbine tower, requiring only a single brace to the tower. In this configuration the 1000 EC-B125 had a maximum capacity of 125 tonnes, while the rotor assembly installed at the wind farm in Deining, Bavaria, weighed just 70 tonnes.
The crane was able to position the rotor very precisely making it an easy job for the installation team. Advantages included easier transportation to the site, with a much smaller footprint needing to be cleared.
The job was carried out by Max Bögl Wind, with its wind energy specialists working closely with Liebherr’s 'Tower Crane Solutions' team.
