Co.Me.T steps up in India

Italian truck mounted and spider lift manufacturer Comet has signed a full distribution agreement with Indian sales and rental company Mtandt for India and countries covered by the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

In addition to the regular distribution agreement the two parties have signed a technical collaboration agreement, essentially a joint venture - Comet Bharat - which will initially manufacture two of Comet's products in India for the local market.

The deal was, finalised yesterday, with more details to follow later in the week.

Based in Chennai, Mtandt, was established just over 50 years ago, and also distributes Dingli self- propelled aerial lifts, Valla pick & carry cranes, it also sells loader cranes from Fassi, scaffold and ground protection plates. It has been growing at a rapid pace over the past year or two and is currently raising further investment to step this up over the next five years. It currently operates from locations in Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Delhi NCR as well as Colombo in Sri Lanka and Qatar in the Middle East.
