US based Crane Service Company has ordered two Liebherr All Terrain cranes at Bauma earlier this month - a 300 tonne LTM 1300-6.2 and a 700 tonne LTM 1650-8.1 All Terrain.

The six axle LTM 1300-6.2 features a seven section 78 metre main boom with a 12.5 to 21 metre bi-fold swingaway extension, which can be extended to 35 metres and offset by up to 40 degrees. A 70 metre luffing jib is also available. Meanwhile, the eight axle LTM 1650-8.1 offers a convertible main boom - either a basic four section 54 metre version or a six section 80 metre configuration - and can be fitted with a 90 metre luffing jib. Both models also feature Liebherr's VarioBase variable outrigger system for optimised capacities in restricted spaces.

The cranes will be used on infrastructure projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Based in Upper Marlboro, Maryland on the east side of Washington DC, the company was established in 1926 by Robert Hutchinson, in Georgetown, Washington, DC to work on the C & O Canal. A second generation in the form of Sherwood Hutchison took over the business in 1960, with Rick Mazzella and Bob Hutchison acquiring the company from their relatives in 1994, with Rick becoming the third family president, more recently Brian Mazzella was appointed as the fourth president in 2023.
The current Crane Service rental fleet ranges from 26 tonne boom trucks to a 770 tonne Grove All Terrain crane, with the company serving the greater Washington Metropolitan area along with much of Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Delaware.
