New Unic spiders

Unic cranes has launched two new mini spiders at Bauma earlier this month, the eight tonne URW-806-3 and the four tonne UM445.

The URW-806-3 – developed from the URW-706-2 – features a six section hydraulic boom that offers a maximum capacity of eight tonnes at 1.7 metres radius, reducing to 1,350kg at its maximum height of 19.5 metres, or 800kg at 25.2 metres with the hydraulic jib. At maximum radius, it can handle 200kg at 18.6 metres, extending to 21 metres with the jib. Transport dimensions are 5.6 metres long, 1.67 metres wide and 2.18 metres high. Overall weight is 8,520kg with power coming from a Kubota diesel. The overall weight increases to 8,670kg with the electric version powered by a 7.5kW 400V electric motor.

The smaller UM445 – with the first unit of which was purchased by Irish rental company Liffey Crane Hire - has a five section main boom and provides a maximum capacity of four tonnes at 1.8 metres radius, reducing to 1,840kg at its maximum lift height of 10.9 metres, or 880kg at 16.4 metres on the jib. At maximum radius, it can handle 490kg at 9.8 metres, or 100kg at 15.7 metres with the jib. Transport dimensions are 3.1 metres, by 750mm with an overall height of 1.95 metres, the overall weight is 3,830kg. Power comes from a 160Ah lithium-ion battery pack that can be charged during operation, with charging times of three hours on 200V or 6.2 hours on 100V supply.

In Europe the cranes are distributed through master distributor Unic Cranes Europe - part of the GGR group - which was established in 2001 selling the range of 17 spider crane models through 24 dealers across Europe. In the UK it runs a rental fleet of 100 cranes with capacities up to 10 tonnes.
