Gareth Jones to leave Ainscough

Gareth Jones the commercial director at Ainscough, the UK's largest crane rental company, and the man who represented the company’s management to the millions who viewed the television fly-on-the-wall documentary 'The Crane Gang' is to leave the company.

His departure was announced to staff earlier this week and we understand that he will take up a new post as managing director of a division of the Dawson Group – a commercial vehicle rental and logistics business - based Milton Keynes.

Jones joined Ainscough from Northgate, a commercial vehicle leasing company in late 2011 and will therefore be moving back to the sector with his new job. He takes up his new position at the start of February.

Hi,
Here we go again, another failing from a "i can do that merchant".
You could see from his attitude towards the drivers on the Telly he just wasnt interested in them.
Their new MD will probably follow suit, another stop gap on the way till hes head hunted.
As wriiten by anither commenter, it gonna all end in tears.

You only have to look at the difference in hire rates in North America they are three times higher than the UK. Then the operators get paid more and you get better people.

Hire rates in the uk are too low have been for 20 years, why do you think no real business men ever buy crane companies in the uk? Because they don't make any real money.

Ainscough are not a big crane company they just think they are

Crane Man1
Company now run by Venture Capitalist not "Billy Banks', Big is not always best, crane hire works regional,, national always struggles to work as in previous major crane company's. Tramping cranes all over the country cost money who ever you are and not everyone's cup of tea ! As a market leader rates should be strong as expensive capital equipment not cheap to buy run / maintain or market.

Why would they buy back a failing business only a matter of time before they are sold to Mammoet or sarens, you cannot run a crane company with accountants

You might think you know about cranes, however you have no idea about running a company.

The best thing to happen to Ainscough now is all the outsiders from van hire and generator hire leave and the Ainscough brothers buy the company back.
