Marc Johnson joins Riwal

Dutch international rental group Riwal has appointed Marc Johnson as national technical manager for the UK.

Johnson will be responsible for all issues relating to the quality and technical specification of the UK operation’s equipment as it launches a programme to expand its UK rental fleet and step up its sales activity.

He joins the company from Nationwide Platforms/Loxam where he was UK technical director. He joined the Nationwide/Lavendon team when he became operations director for Panther Platforms in 2007, which it had acquired a year earlier. He transferred to Nationwide Platforms as south east regional director when it began merging its regional acquisitions, following its purchase of the Platform Company. He took up the UK technical role in 2013.

He began his crane and access career with Quinto Crane & Plant Hire in 1990 as a field service engineer, have served a four year apprenticeship with ScanTruck. In 1993 he moved to Universal Aerial Platforms in a similar role, but five years later he joined Higher Platforms as a depot manager, was promoted to southern area manager in 2002, and group operations director in 2004, leaving to join Lavendon’s Panther operation in 2007.

Riwal UK country manager Mick Ledden said: “We are delighted that Marc has joined Riwal. His experience, expertise and leadership qualities will be pivotal to our plans to expand our services while providing customers with the most technically-capable powered access solutions on the market. Here in the UK, our customers will benefit from investment of nearly €100 million (£88 million) in Riwal’s fleet during 2019 – 75 percent of which is destined for fleet expansion – and Marc will be at the centre of the decision-making involved in bringing these machines on stream.”
