Andy Wright appointed A-Plant CEO

A-Plant, the UK operation of Ashtead, has appointed Andy Wright as chief executive

Wright joined A-Plant as chief operating officer from Speedy Hire last February before taking over the field and market led responsibilities of departing chief executive Richard Thomas in August, with chief financial officer Phil Parker assuming his operational duties - see: Change at the top for A-Plant

Wright joined the access industry in 2006, when he was appointed as group development director for Lavendon, having been recruited from Aggreko, where he was managing director of northern Europe. He was appointed as head of Lavendon’s UK operations in mid-2007, and then moved to the Middle East with the company in 2010, leaving to join Speedy's operations in the region in 2014.

The announcement says: “Andy has ambitious plans to transform the A-Plant business, introducing new products and services and investing in technology that makes it better, easier and faster for customers. He wants to focus on providing colleagues with the right tools, training and development to be the best they can be and create a culture where people can achieve their career goals.”

Wright said: “I am delighted and proud to be appointed as the chief executive of A-Plant and I’m looking forward to the exciting opportunity ahead. A-Plant is an incredible business, that’s grown significantly in the last decade. We’ve some unbelievably talented and dedicated people that are undoubtedly experts in the markets that we operate in."

Ashtead group chief executive, Brendan Horgan, added: “Over the last several months Andy has clearly demonstrated his ability to guide our organisation through a period of change in a thoughtful and inclusive manner, leveraging both his leadership and broad industry knowledge. I am pleased to announce his appointment and I wish him all the best in his new role. I look forward to working closely with him to achieve our ambitious goals for the business.”
