Crane overturn in Tennessee

A crawler crane over turned yesterday on a construction project in Franklin, Tennessee, due south of Nashville.

The crane, rigged with around 58 metres of main boom plus a fixed offset jib, was lifting a steel beam for a new three storey office block when for some reason the crane overturned to the side.

The crane boom and jib came down across a road

The boom and jib came down across a road and into a car park on what is a relatively new commercial development. Thankfully no one was hurt in the incident, with the crane operator appearing to have a lucky escape and managing to escape from the cab which broke away from its mounting. He refused any medical attention from the emergency services. The crane did leak fuel and oil, but the building was barely touched.

Could have been a lot worse, luckily no-one injured.
