Dropped tub

A large loader crane dropped a hot tub as it was lifting it over a house in Swansea, South Wales on Monday.

The crane, from the Portacover Machinery Movements fleet, was in the process of lifting the tub towards the house, when the web slings on one side of the tub slipped off, thanks to the guy rope - which was attached to the sling rather than the tub itself - being pulled a little over zealously as the tub appeared to swing around in the wind.

Thankfully no one was hurt in the incident and the damage was limited to the tub and possibly the garden it fell into. A better slinger/rigger is clearly required when the replacement tub is delivered.

The entire event was captured on the video below.

Wonder if it was insured to be used as a crane after all it’s a lorry loader and completely unsuitable for the task. Were any RAMS produced and submitted? Shouldn’t think so this is what we’re up against.

Glad no-one was hurt. We don't have new accidents just new people.
