New depot launch for Hird

UK sales and rental company Hird has formally opened its new depot in the West Midlands.

Located on the Hayes Trading Estate, in Halesowen, the 2,000 square metre facility will house the company’s range of mini cranes, glass handling equipment and aerial lifts and includes a training centre. The company announced the plans for the new location at Liftex late last year – see: Liftex opens in MK.

Hird managing director, Phil Hird, said: “We are already extremely pleased with the level of interest in our services in the West Midland region and are located just 10 minutes from the M5 with fantastic transport connections and so are excited to take this opportunity now.”

The new depot will be ran by Alan Peck, who joined the company as West Midlands area manager last year following a brief spell with UK sales company Foster Crane & Equipment (see: Peck to sell Hoeflon). Prior to this he was head of Böcker UK, which he helped set up in 2017, leading the distribution company for the German aluminium crane, hoist and lift manufacturer.

Peck said: “Hird is bringing an unrivalled range of hire services and lifting expertise to the region, which has been welcomed by current customers and a fast growing number of new ones. The West Midlands is still the industrial heart of the UK so there is huge potential.”

Based in Hull, Hird operates from locations in Doncaster, Hull, Redhill, Surrey and Halesowen and is the dealer for Valla pick & carry cranes and Winlet glazing robots in the UK and Ireland.
