New MD for Nationwide Platforms

Loxam has appointed Paul Rankin as managing director of its UK operation Nationwide Platforms.

Effective October, he will replace Loxam’s Powered Access Division chief executive, Don Kenny, who has held the job on an interim basis since March after Colin Hotchkiss moved to a new role with Loxam - see: MD change at Nationwide Platforms.

Rankin has been managing director of Rapid Access - Loxam Powered Access’ operation the Middle East - since 2014. He joined the group from Johnson Controls, where he had been regional executive director for the Gulf region for the previous 10 years. See: New MD for Rapid Access

Paul Rankin

Kenny said: “Paul possesses a wealth of knowledge, experience, and understanding of the powered access industry and a proven ability to lead organisations to achieve their goals – especially important as our sector faces the on-going challenges of Covid-19. He leaves behind him a winning team at Rapid Access in the Middle East and will be joining another winning team here at Nationwide Platforms."

“I believe that with his strong leadership and focus on organic business growth, customer experience, and employee engagement, Paul will further galvanise the UK business to meet our strategic goals and reach new heights.”

Rankin added: “I am privileged to be joining a great team in the UK. Our focus will certainly be on meeting, if not exceeding, our customer’s expectations.”

Steve Ceney replaces Rankin as managing director of Rapid Access, having joined what was then the Lavendon group nine years ago. He began his working life with the British Army, before moving into the construction services industry where he spent more than 20 years before moving to Lavendon. He has been working in various parts of the group over the past three years, heading up a number of change related programmes in both Europe and the Middle East, but was previously managing director of Rapid Access Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

NWP on the verge of outpricing and killing smaller companies yet again. You know, I don't think it's the Company, it's the inexperienced PHAs on the phone trying to earn a bonus. The whole structure needs looking at. Their TechX is mad. Keeps the workshop tidy and spends less time on the machines, whatever they tell the customers. They need to sift through their random kit instead of painting it. Among others, I hope to see NWP see this through, without taking others as casualties or takeovers. Whether the commands come from the top or from the local office may dictate the future of smaller companies who are caught up in the maelstrom. What can we do but wish everyone the best of luck?
