New QHSE director for Ainscough

John Lowton has returned to Ainscough Crane Hire as quality, health, safety & environment (QHSE) director.

Lowton originally joined Ainscough as an apprentice in 1984 at the age of 16 before gradually rising through the ranks in following years to become a crane operator on the unusual 1,000 tonne Liebherr LTM 11000D telescopic truck crane, and 500 tonne LGD1500 lattice boom truck crane. By 2000 he had progressed into contract lift management and was instrumental in the development of Heavy Crane solutions. In 2003 he played a key role in the creation of Ainscough’s safety operation and was appointed health & safety director in 2009.

He left the company in 2014, initially to set up his own business Tutus Safety Solutions, but before long was working full time for what was then HTC Wolffkran, where he became senior, health, safety quality & environment manager.

Speaking of his return to the company Lowton said: “Working at Ainscough has always been dear to my heart and this recent opportunity to return has been more than welcome. I feel this is my homecoming and to be back part of the team at such an exciting time in the history of the company is the ‘jewel in the crown’ for me. I am looking forward to the challenge and making a difference.”

Chief executive Peter Gibbs added: “It’s a real pleasure to welcome John back to Ainscough. Throughout his career, he has shown a commitment to developing new QHSE and training measures, many of which help underpin the Make the Safe Choice culture that is so important to us as a business. He will no doubt have gained further experience in the past few years that will also prove valuable in developing increasingly robust and safe working methods. John coming back into the Ainscough fold is excellent news for Ainscough, and we all look forward to working with him in the years ahead.”

In June, UK’s Ainscough Crane Hire appointed Peter Gibbs as chief executive. In the latest issue of Cranes & Access we spoke to him to find out how it has gone and what plans he has for the future:

Ainscough has missed and needs you, what was has gone. You no doubt will help raise the bar to where it should be.
