Crane accident closes road

A three axle All Terrain crane overturned on the A-140 road in Suffolk, England yesterday closing the road.

The incident occurred in Earl Stonham, north of Ipswich and involved a Liebherr crane from the Ainscough fleet, when something caused it to crash and end up on its side. The cab contained the driver and one passenger, fortunately neither were seriously hurt and no one else was affected, although damage was done to a wall and the road surface.

At the end of the day people need to realise it don’t matter what colour the crane is and what the name says up the side. A nob head can leave one firm and find another just as easy. Stuff breaks things go wrong don’t matter who you are and who you work for. If the wrong things breaks all hell can break loose.

From what I have heard the driver was trying to avoid a car coming out of the junction,it seems to be a bit of a bad junction. How many times people think that a crane,or lgv can stop on a dime

Although unfortunate, accidents happen. At this stage only the driver and passenger know what happened so speculation, accusation and misinformation is not useful or fair. John, who has many years experience as a heavy crane operator and is fully qualified to carry out crane investigations, will get to the cause and put in place an action plan to minimise the risk of it happening again. I'm sure that ACH will welcome the connection between COVID, dividend payments and accidents.

Manrider I take it you work for ainscough and will you be turning the government money down in your pay packet? And like you sed the 23 million was last year. Just be greatfull you still have a job and can put food on the table. Keep safe everyone.

Ainscoughs,,taking full advantage of the government furlough scheme,a company that paid out 23 million in dividends last year,a company thats never been as busy.
So busy that most contract lifts are now made up with temporary labour.
If they turn over the same profits next year,im sure they will pay these government hand outs straight back.
Wont they???????

Bullshit detective
It's funny how people with no knowledge pipe up against ACH! Probably halfwits who lost their jobs for being bad at it. If this was Baldwin's and there had fatalities, there wouldn't be one single derogatory comment about poor servicing etc. Take a look at the under side of this 13 year old crane, It's in better condition than most 3 year old cranes. Also, government policy for traveling in a company vehicle during Covid is a maximum of 2 so where is the issue here??? "Whothistime" and "orralbeel" are clearly a pair of morons.

To all the guys on this post that are finger pointing before any sort of statement or investigation has been published I’ll just remind you of a old saying in the crane industry that I think is very appropriate right now,

Don’t be a knobhead.

Having bought a few used machines over recent years from Ainscough I can tell you that their maintenance has always been exemplary. Full service history, brake test readouts and a comprehensive list of every part that's ever been replaced on the crane. It's only a shame that everyone else within the industry doesn't work to the same standard.

I have no connection with Ainscough but as a H&S professional, I do know that the last thing you do in an accident investigation is to immediately start blaming without having a full investigation and coming to reasoned conclusions. Not being aware of all the facts and making un-informed conclusions does not help anyone. Government guidance is available for drivers and passengers where the 2 metre or 1 metre distance cannot be maintained and Ainscough will have to have a Risk Assessment for Drivers during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Whoththistime I take it you have never worked at ach if you did you would know the crane's are fully inspected EVERY 8 weeks from top to bottom. And brakes FULLY striped down. Driver's are told to Fallow government guidance traveling in a vehicle or masks and windows open. I'm sure if any customer's or general public have any concerns about the road safety of the crane's could contact head office and arrange to see how a crane is serviced. I can honestly say that if I've had a safety issue with a crane or van ach won't send it out.

A lot of finger pointing going on here before any facts have been established,
Shame on you. Whothistime can’t spell the name of the company either, this is my first & probably last blog couldn’t help myself. KEYBOARD WARRIORS!!!
Get a life

Could have cooked them through lack of experience. These drum brakes do fade if you are hard on them or was the driver on the phone ? Doubt the truth will ever come out . Ainscough won't want to learn from experience and definitely won't want to pass on any findings . But maybe just maybe John Lawton will enlighten us all to something we can all learn from . Thankfully nobody hurt or worse

They might have had masks but did they have brakes. Just wondering ?

2 in the cab mmm what about social distancing ? Were they wearing masks ? Or do the current regulations not apply to Aincough, if the current regulations don't apply to Aincough , what other regulations dont apply to them . Just wondering.
