Tadano Faun appoints new UK distributor

Newly established Cranes UK Ltd will be Tadano Faun’s sole distributor in the UK and Ireland from January 1, 2002. The Barnsley-based outfit is headed by managing director Joe Lyon, a familiar name in the industry for thirty years. Lyon has recently left the post of sales director of MMS, the South African distributor of Tadano cranes.

Lyon is to be joined by UK sales manager Brian Crisp and product support manager Terry Philpott, as well as David Grayson to handle after sales service. His three colleagues come from MKL, Tadano Faun’s previous UK distributor.

Five engineers are already on the staff at Cranes UK, Lyon told the Vertikal Press, three of whom were previously employed by MKL.

Tadano Faun said that this high level of experience and expertise will ensure that its existing customers enjoy the same high level of service that they have had in the past. Despite the considerable delay in appointing its new UK dealer, Tadano Faun emphasised that it considers the UK an important and evolving market.

Cranes UK Ltd is presently drawing from German and Dutch supplies of equipment. Any cranes ordered now can be delivered as early as February, with the longest wait time expected to be until August. The new distributor will concentrate on building up its own stock this year to ensure a swift UK service.

Cranes UK Ltd is certainly confident of success, having already taken an order for an 80 tonne AT crane. Two more sales are anticipated by early January said Lyon.
