Crane boom collapse

The lattice boom of a crawler crane working from a barge in Oregon, collapsed on Tuesday after becoming entangled in overhead lines.

The crane remained stable and no one was hurt


The crane a Link Belt 108 H5 owned by Axis Cranes was working on the replacement of two wooden towers that take power lines over Alsea Bay near Waldport, Oregon.
Thankfully there were no injuries, the power lines were not activated and the damage was limited to the crane and new transmission tower. The incident was captured on video and can be viewed by clicking here

A new crane was being brought in today to replace the damaged one and prevent any delays to the project.

When viewing video it appears that barge may be listing under load, sideloading boom. Watch front of barge before and after.
