LiftSmart moves into Europe

LiftSmart, the US based manufacturer of manual material lifts, has appointed Etramo as its distributor and ‘strategic partner' for France, Germany, and the Benelux region.

Under the agreement, Etramo will stock machines and spare parts at its base in Belgium, and ensure adequate product availability and service support for customers in Europe. The first of several containers are expected to arrive shortly.

LiftSmart founder and managing director Steve Citron said: "We are very pleased to align ourselves with an exceptional organisation like Etramo, they are very active in Europe and very familiar with the performance that rental companies, and their customers, expect from equipment manufacturers.”

Etramo president Johnny Vancraybex added: "As a subsidiary of Eurorent Antwerp, we test, evaluate, and where necessary, adapt all of the machinery we offer in order to meet the highest demands of the rental market, and in this case we believe that LiftSmart's product range provides best-in-class specifications, features, and durability that will exceed our customers' expectations. We are very excited to represent LiftSmart in Europe."

Etramo is owned by Eurorent, a large tool and compact equipment rental company, which includes a full range of aerial work platforms and telehandlers. At one time Etramo owned Sky-High, the trailer lift and self-propelled boom lift manufacturer and still manufactures some products itself.

LiftSmart was established by Genie and MEC veteran Steve Citron, in 2011 and launched at that year’s ARA Rental Show - see: ARA 2011 highlights. Manufactured in its plant in Vista, California, the range was expanded in 2012 and now includes a two ranges with lift heights to 24ft/7.3 metres - see: LiftSmart unveils new models.

The company agreed a deal with UK based Martin Davies - at the 2012 Rental show- to distribute its products, but that never came to anything.
