Crane overturns in NJ

A Rough Terrain crane overturned yesterday in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, seriously injuring a man on site.

The operator was thrown from the cab

The crane, owned by locally based United Crane Rentals Inc. was lifting a clam dredge at a dock when it went over, the outriggers were fully extended and seem to have sunk a little – possibly as the machine went over - although mats do not appear to have been used.

The operator was thrown from the cab. As yet, it is not clear whether the injured man, who was rushed to a nearby trauma centre, was the operator, a banksman or a bystander.
