Mobile harbour crane elevator

Liebherr Maritime has launched the LiUP crane operator elevator for mobile harbour cranes.

Unveiled at the TOC Europe exhibition in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, the Liebherr designed and built lift is already used with Liebherr tower cranes, but has now adapted it for mobile harbour cranes. As with the tower crane model it has a lift capacity of 200kg, with power coming from a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and electric motor. A built in energy recovery function which actuates during descent, is said to recover up to 40 percent of the energy used for the elevation. As it does not require any supply cables, ropes or drag cables, and can be installed and removed quickly and easily.

The LiUP also features several functions to protect operators and service technicians, including stopping positions monitored by three limit switches, while a clamp brake reacts when the elevator starts moving too fast. Inductive sensors are also able to check whether a guide rail is installed or not.
