Crane driver survives 40m fall

The operator of a tower crane in Penang survived after the top of the crane plunged 40 metres to the ground.

In an incident not dissimilar to the fatal accident in Battersea this September, the crane operator survived with only a head wound after the top of the luffing tower crane fell around 40 metres to the street below.

The incident occurred on the site of a block of new apartments in Lebuh Tengku Kudin Dua., Penang, Malaysia, last night.
The operator was rushed to the Penang Hospital where he received five stitches to the back of his head, he was also in a state of shock.

Reports claim that the crane was operating in very strong wind conditions
