Palfinger for Eco-Pan

UK ‘concrete washout’ company Eco-Pan has taken delivery of a Mercedes 8x2/4 Arocs 3245 truck with a Palfinger PK 42002 SH High Performance loader crane.

The crane, fitted by Palfinger UK, has a maximum capacity of 14.6 tonnes, and can handle up to four tonnes at a radius of 9.6 metres. Maximum hydraulic radius is 21 metres at which it can handle 1,180kg, with a maximum tip height of 24 metres and 360 degree continuous slew. The vehicle will be used to help with the removal of a 100 metre long ‘concreteberg’ blocking three Victorian era sewers in central London. The 105 tonne blockage was believed to have been created by a construction company pouring surplus cement down a drain.

Eco-Pan transport manager Luke Van Spall said: “We offer the UK’s first concrete washout service that allows contractors to outsource the risk, providing peace of mind for all their concrete recycling needs. The fact that it comes straight from the mixer and hasn’t been rendered or aged means the waste concrete still has a value, so it can be crushed down into ‘fines’ and used again.”

“The chassis is a thing of real beauty, very muscular and purposeful in appearance, while the advanced technology it incorporates is fantastic. We are particularly pleased with the steered single-wheeled axle at the back, which is a massive advantage when you’re trying to get in and out of tight spaces.”
