First lithium Speed Levels delivered

German rental company Gräber has taken delivery of the first 30ft SL30RTE and 26ft SL26RTE lithium battery powered Speed Levels to be delivered. It purchased three units of each model.

Both models - which went into production at Snorkel’s UK plant last month - feature lithium-ion battery packs with a built in battery management system and an integrated electric powertrain, developed in partnership with Hyperdrive Innovation. The company claims the lithium-ion battery pack reduces running costs by up to 95 percent compared to an engine, while also lasting 20 times longer than lead acid batteries.

Based on the regular diesel powered Snorkel Speed Levels, the SL26RTE has a 680kg platform capacity and a platform length of 4.6 metres with a 910mm rollout deck extension. The larger SL30RTE has a platform capacity of 590kg and platform length of 4.23 metres.

Company owner, Alexander Gräber, said: “We are pleased to have made the decision to add the new electric Snorkel Speed Levels to our fleet, which are proving to be very reliable and are built to a high standard. It helps us to have confidence in our chosen path to provide greater zero emission lifting solutions with lithium-ion, as we try to fulfil the demand for cost-effectiveness, fuel consumption and to meet the increasing regulations on exhaust and noise emissions.”

Bernhard Kahn, managing director of Ahern Deutschland, which supplied the units, added: “We are very proud to deliver these units and already receive positive feedback from the Gräber Konstanz team. We are sure that their customers will appreciate their decision to bring innovation to their rental fleet and wish them continued success.”

Located in Konstanz, in southern Germany, Gräber Konstanz has four rental locations and operates a fleet that includes boom lifts, trailer lifts, mobile cranes, scissor lifts, telehandlers and truck mounted platforms. It is also a member of the System Lift network with more than 70 independent rental companies with a flee of more than 7,000 machines.
