Ausa to build JLG compact telehandler

Spanish compact telehandler manufacturer Ausa has signed a 10 year agreement to supply JLG with a four metre 1.22 tonne ultra-compact telehandler – the SkyTrak 3013 – which is essentially an Ausa T144H, with a slightly lower maximum capacity compared to the Ausa which is is 1.35 tonnes. In the US market it will carry a nominal rating of 3,000lbs capacity and offer a lift height of 13ft.

The JLG version has a total weight of 2,400 kg, allowing it to be transported on a regular two axle equipment trailer behind a 4x4 vehicle. As with most telehandlers it has four wheel drive, but steering is rear axle only. The machine is powered by a Kubota diesel matched to a standard hydrostatic transmission. Capacity at maximum lift height is 770kg, while forward reach is just under 1.7 metres with a 580kg capacity. Overall width is 1.4 metres and overall height 1.96 metres.

The JLG/SkyTrak 3013 – built by Ausa

The JLG badged telehandler will be built at Ausa’s plant in Manresa near Barcelona, Spain. It adds a product type not currently covered in the JLG product line. The product will be launched at the ARA show in February.
The following is a short video of the machine - in Ausa format - in action.

Rogerio dos Santos, senior director of engineering at JLG said: "JLG is pleased to announce this partnership with Ausa, a manufacturer with over 60 years of experience in designing compact industrial equipment. Together with JLG's innovation in the lift industry and its proven success in the telescopic handler market, the partnership between the two companies will allow us to build a vehicle that is more versatile and durable than our competitors' models.”

Ausa chief executive Ramon Carbonell, added: "The partnership between Ausa and JLG to manufacture the SkyTrak 3013 represents a commitment by two global leaders in the telescopic handler business to meet a need in the US market. We are proud of our legacy and the added value that we bring to this sector and we are pleased to go into partnership with a company that is a global leader in the design, manufacture and sale of lift equipment."

Vertikal Comment

This looks like a good move for JLG. The Ausa T144H is well proven, and much appreciated by those companies that run them. It can be easily transported, and this size of machine is ideal for certain building refurbishment and industrial applications.

JLG has proven track record of successfully sourcing specialist products from smaller companies such as Ausa over the long term. For example, its co-operation with Hinowa dates back to October 2010 and is still going strong.

This could, and should, be a mutually successful partnership while helping expand the smaller end of the US telehandler market.
