First Jekko SPX1280 for UAE

Dubai based sales and rental company AJI Heavy Equipment Rentals has taken delivery of the first eight tonne Jekko SPX1280 spider crane in the UAE. It has also ordered a 3.2 tonne SPX532 spider crane.

Launched last year (see: Jekko unveils the SPX1280), the SPX1280 features a 17.7 metre five section main boom and a 7.6 metre four section hydraulic luffing jib to offer a maximum tip height of 26.6 metres. It can handle 600kg at its maximum height and up to 100kg at a maximum radius of 20 metres.

When stowed it has an overall width of 1.45 metres, is 5.85 metres long and just over two metres high. The tracks can be extended to an overall width of 2.05 metres for greater stability in work mode. Weighing seven tonnes - which includes 1,500kg of counterweight - features include a two tonne pick & carry capacity, a variable outrigger set up system and radio remote controls.

AJI general manager, Dean Jones, said: “We have been eagerly awaiting the SPX1280 as it brings a new dimension into the market, we saw it was the outrigger footprint and flexibility what truly set it apart from its competitors, when we placed our order at launch last year. We have a couple of interesting projects lined up for the unit and can’t wait to get it on site.”

Talking at the launch last November, export sales manager Mauro Tonon, said: “This machine is a real blank page for the operator, who can use endless configurations very easily, notably through a completely revised user interface. Considering its weight, size and working footprint, the SPX1280 is no doubt the best performing machine within its sector. And of course the pick & carry mode for operation at 360 degree with a two tonne load, Jekko’s trademark, is obviously available.”

AJI Heavy Equipment Rentals runs a fleet of boom lifts, scissor lifts, spider lifts and low level access platforms ranging from 4.5 to 57 metres.
