Big basket for Schickling

German rental company Schickling Arbeitsbühnen has become one of the first companies in Germany to purchase Genie’s four metre platform.

The big basket, which will be fitted on the 65ft Genie S-65 XC boom lifts in its fleet, measures four metres wide/long by 910mm deep. Offering a maximum platform capacity of 270kg and rated for two people plus tools, the attachment does not affect the S-65 XC’s 22 metre working height or 16.5 metre outreach.

Features include 14 lanyard anchor points - compared to the eight found on the standard 2.4 metre platform baskets - as well as an off-centre transport lock which, the company claims, allows it to fit onto a standard trailer without the need for oversized permits.

As well as providing a greater work surface and minimising the need to constantly maneuverer the platform into position, it also provides the - perhaps unexpected - benefit of making it easier for users to maintain social distancing during these unusual times.

Company owner Elmar Schickling, said: “So far, after using this solution to give the signage of our depot a good clean, it has already been rented out on several occasions to install outdoor sunshades and awnings. Thanks to its extra length, our new platform enables operators to complete the entire installation across the full length of the job, including the fitting of the mechanisms on both sides of the awnings. We see this as a great fit with many similar applications during the summer season.”

“Our new Genie four metre platform has proved to be an even more timely acquisition than initially expected. Thanks to its increased dimensions, it provides an ideal solution that enables two people to work together, when applications require, while maintaining the recommended safe distance. We couldn’t have asked for more.”

Based in Visbek, north Germany, Schickling runs a fleet of boom, scissor, truck mounted and trailer lifts as well as telehandlers, forklifts and excavators. It is also a member of System Lift, the German association of independent regional rental companies.
