More Frannas for Mongolia

Mongolian copper and gold mine OyuTolgoi has taken delivery of three Franna MAC 25-4 pick & carry cranes from local distributor MSM group.

The 25 tonne MAC 25-4 articulated cranes feature an 18 metre four section boom and a short three metre jib for a maximum tip height of 21.5 metres. Weighing just under 24 tonnes, the crane can pick & carry its entire load chart.

The new cranes, which join five Franna pick & carry cranes already working in the mine, have been ordered with a number of optional features required for work in the mining industry and are equipped with an Ansul fire suppression system.

Franna sales director Mark Lock said: “We are delighted to have partnered with MSM to deliver these cranes to the OyuTolgoi mine project and believe there is a great opportunity for further success in the Mongolian market. The aftersales support from MSM is second to none and they provide truly exceptional results for their customers.”

MSM chief executive Mark Gabel added: “Terex products are making a valuable contribution to the development of the Mongolian construction and mining sectors and we are delighted to be the official distributor. I would like to thank both Franna and our logistics team for successfully delivering the equipment despite the supply chain constraints posed by Covid-19, and our Aftersales team for completing all relevant modifications, installing the Ansul FFS retrofit and finishing the lifting certificate in a timely fashion and to the highest standard. Onwards and upwards!"

Located in Khanbogd, in the south Gobi desert, OyuTolgoi is one of the largest underground gold and copper mines in the world.
