Tower crane down in Toronto

A tower crane came down earlier today in Toronto, Canada. We understand that while no one was injured in the incident a passing pedestrian had a narrow escape with only her bike damaged, and a man nearby was reported to be suffering from shock when the jib landed alongside him.

It is clear that the cause of the collapse is down to slew ring bolts, as the entire top of the crane has came away at the point, not unlike the fatal incident in Battersea, London in 2006 (see: Two die and 100 evacuated in Battersea.
