Wasel adds twin 110 tonners

German crane rental company Wasel has taken delivery of two 110 tonne Liebherr LTM 1110-5.1 All Terrain cranes and has placed orders for a number of larger crawler cranes and two further All Terrain cranes.

The five axle LTM 1110 features a 60 metre main boom topped by a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension, while optional inserts take the maximum tip height to 97 metres. The new machines will be predominantly used to erect tower cranes and carry out maintenance work.

Part of a fleet renewal programme, the company has also placed orders for a 1,000 tonne LR 11000 crawler crane, a 650 tonne LTM 1650-8.1 and the new 120 tonne LTM 1120-4.1 All Terrain crane. They follow the delivery of three Demag AC 45 City cranes earlier in the year.

Managing director Matthias Wasel, said: “The Liebherr 100 tonne cranes are still important machines in our fleet because they are versatile. But the new LTM 1110-5.1 delivers a range of additional benefits. The fact that the five axle crane can be driven on public roads with a gross weight of 48 tonnes and axle loads of 10 tonnes makes it even more flexible than the previous cranes.”

Based in Bergheim, on the western side of Cologne, Wasel operates a fleet of around 150 mobile cranes and 400 tower cranes from 11 locations. It has also been a Liebherr tower crane dealer for more than 65 years.
