Genie SX-180 for Locamod

French rental company Locamod Elévation has taken delivery of a 180ft Genie SX-180 telescopic boom lift at its Paris North branch in Domont.

The SX-180 features a four section boom topped by a three metre rotating articulated jib to provide a working height of almost 57 metres and an outreach of up to 24.4 metres, while maximum platform capacity is an unrestricted 340kg. The unit can also drive at full height and reach well below ground level.

New business director Thibault Jameau said: “Our company has a resolutely forward looking approach. Our customers want productivity and, with their needs in mind, we want to offer end users the best solutions that allow them to work efficiently and respond to the challenges of tomorrow’s large construction projects. These include developments related to the Grand Paris project, the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, and, because our new Genie SX-180 boom is available for rental nationwide, a large number of other jobsites all over France.”

The company’s chief executive Bertrand Philaire was also involved in the decision and added: “We needed to offer our customers a machine combining the ability to work at extreme heights with productivity and ease of transport. The Genie SX-180 boom ticks all the right boxes.”

Established in 1982 when engineer Charles Debeaud purchased Alsace based sales and rental company Agrimod, this morphed into Locamod. In 1986 the company dropped its distribution arm to focus on rentals and began offering aerial work platforms. Debeaud sold the business to Groupe HTI in 2013, with Philaire taking over in 2016.

Today Locamod runs a fleet of aerial lifts, telehandlers, fork trucks and earthmoving equipment from 19 locations across France with revenues in the region of €40 million.
