Liebherr container cranes go local

Liebherr USA and Liebherr Canada are taking over the North American responsibility for the sales, customer service and aftersales support of the company’s range of maritime cranes built in Ireland by Liebherr Container Cranes.

Up until now Liebherr Container Cranes has handled its North American business from its base in Killarney, Ireland. The company felt the time was right to hand over the business to the distribution subsidiaries based in Virginia, US and Ontario, Canada, with Liebherr Container Cranes continuing to provide advice and additional support. The move also follows the expansion of the US distribution premises last year - see: Liebherr expands US HQ.

David Griffin, managing director - sales at Liebherr Container Cranes, said: “Liebherr USA and Liebherr Canada are very successful and advanced sales and service companies, with well established teams for the maritime business. It makes absolute sense for us to be closer to our North American client base with local personnel and resourcing. The factory in Killarney, Ireland is very excited about this huge advantage we can offer to our existing and potential customers in both the USA and Canada. Moves like this will allow us to ramp up in other respects at the factory, increase customer satisfaction and continue our long-term growth strategy.”
