Genie S-60 J arrives in Europe

German rental company Brauer Arbeitsbühnen has taken delivery of the first 60ft Genie S-60 J boom lift in Europe.

Launched at the ARA last year (see: Genie to unveil 60ft boom), the S-60 J features a rising lower boom plus a two section boom and a 1.8 metre articulated jib. It offers a 20.5 metre working height, an outreach of 12.3 metres and an unrestricted platform capacity of 300kg. Weighing just 7,550kg, it has an overall width of 2.44 metres, a stowed height of 2.69 metres and an overall transport length of 7.16 metres.

Power comes from a Stage V Kubota D1105 diesel and features four wheel drive, Genie’s active oscillating axles and rough-terrain foam filled tyres. The company’s Lift Guard Contact Alarm and Connect telematics system also comes as standard. The new boom lift went straight out on a three month rental working on the façade of the new Intershop office building in Jena.

Managing director Steffen Brauer said: “The purchase price of the Genie S-60 J boom lift is interesting in relation to the rental rate and we therefore assume a good rental return. Considering the initial investment costs it can be rented out sometimes also as a 16 metre telescopic boom. Furthermore, we thought about choosing a lift that is tailored to the rental business and reduces complexity without sacrificing performance to complete our rental fleet as a perfect fit.”

"The more flexible transport options also were important in our decision to add the S-60 J to our fleet. We were looking for a boom that could be easily transported on our own three axle vehicle with a weight of 7,550kg and right sized design. Other booms with a 22 metre working height and a weight higher than 10,000kg require a larger four axle transport vehicle.”

Based Eisenberg, east Germany, with additional locations in Jena-Maua and Erfurt Cross, Brauer runs a fleet of 90 mast, boom, scissor and spider lift as well as truck mounted platforms and telehandlers.
