Gottwald for Kingston

Caribbean terminal operator Kingston Wharves (KWL) has ordered a Konecranes Gottwald Model 8 mobile harbour crane.

Scheduled for delivery at the end of the year, the G HMK 8510 has a maximum capacity of 125 tonnes and up to 61 metre radius. It will be used to serve super-post Panamax vessels at the port of Kingston in Jamacia, handling general containers and heavy project cargo.

KWL chief executive Mark Williams, said: “Regional trade is expanding, so this order is part of a comprehensive strategic upgrade to our equipment and facilities. Our new crane will provide us with the performance, reliability and robustness we’ve come to expect from such a crane, while giving us the extra capacity and options we need for our future growth and development.”
