James Phu Nguyen

He began his career in 1997 in Perth, Australia as a design engineer for street lighting pole manufacturer Ingal EPS. In 2000 he moved to BJ Process and Pipeline services as a project engineer. And in 2004 he transferred to a similar role at Woodside Energy. After a year he left for Roc Oil Company as a senior mechanical piping commissioning agent. A year later he made the move to Baker Hughes and Singapore leaving Perth behind him.

In his new position, he will be responsible for leading EnerMech’s personnel in Asia with a key focus on driving business growth for EnerMech’s process, pipelines, cranes, hydraulics and industrial services in existing markets while extending the company’s current activities across Brunei, Indonesia, India, the Philippines, and Sakhalin Island.

Speaking of the new role Nguyen said: “EnerMech has an enviable reputation across Asia so it’s an exciting time to be joining such a well respected business as it gears up for a period of sustained growth. As the industry continues to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, there is renewed optimism as delayed projects restart and EnerMech is ideally placed to support this influx of activity. I’m pleased to be joining the team and look forward to working closely with the wider global leadership team to deliver our innovative solutions to the region.”

Paul McCarthy, regional director for Asia Pacific, added: “James has a strong network in Asia and his deep understanding of the region, and its demands will be extremely valuable to the business as we implement our growth strategy. With extensive experience in delivering multi-million-dollar energy projects and leading large, international teams James is ideally suited to spearhead our operations. We have experienced a rising demand for our services across Asia Pacific and already have a number of large scale projects underway across the oil and gas and industrial markets. With operators now planning substantial spend across oil and gas infrastructure assets we are well positioned to deliver our services to drive safer and smarter operations across Asia.”
