Terex MP acquires MDS

Terex Materials Processing – which includes the crane business – has acquired MDS International, a manufacturer of trommel type screening machines based in Co. Monaghan, Ireland, from founders Liam and Una Murray who are retiring.

The acquisition is part of Terex MP’s strategy to expand its product range in the crushing, screening and environmental industries the MDS line will take the company into additional markets and has the benefit that the two companies already share a number of distributors.

The 3,200 square metre MDS facility is the first Terex location in the Republic of Ireland but is a relatively short drive from the Terex Dungannon and Omagh sites in Northern Ireland. The MDS business will be managed by Conor Hegarty in the role of general manager and business line director. He was previously international sales director for Terex Ecotec,.

Pat Brian, vice president, Mobile Crushing and Screening at Terex MP said: “The addition of MDS to our portfolio of businesses will bolster our growth and improve our product offering. The business has been well managed, is on a terrific growth trajectory, and its heavy duty trommels address a gap in our own product lines while also having a lot of synergy with what we already manufacture and distribute.”
