Fatal aerial lift incident

A man died yesterday following an incident while using an aerial work platform in Waterloo, Quebec – due east of Montreal.

The man, 73, was apparently painting a building from a boom type platform, which we understand was truck mounted, but have not been able to confirm that. The same source informed us that the machine overturned and that the man suffered serious injuries from the fall. He was declared dead shortly after reaching hospital.

The regional police, investigating the incident said: "A man was working on a painting job on a boom lift and, according to the first information, the bucket tipped over and the victim ended up on the ground. An investigator from the Sûreté du Québec, in collaboration with the provincial health & safety authority - CNESST, (the Commission des Normes, de l'Equité, de la Santé et de la Sécurité du Travail) is trying to establish the causes and circumstances of this event."
