New GM for Terex Utilities

Terex has appointed Darryl Niven as general manager of Terex Utilities, its vehicle mounted aerial lift business, catering to the utility/bucket truck market and running much of the group’s North American service support outlets.

Niven will report directly to Terex group chief executive John Garrison, rather than through Genie. He joins the company after a year with Cornerstone Consulting where he was vice president of business development. Prior to this he was chief manufacturing officer for ParkOhio Holdings, a collection of specialised manufacturing operations supplying the automotive, heavy truck, industrial equipment, rail, and aerospace industries.

Daryl Niven

Niven began his career with Ford motor company in 1986, working in both Michigan and the UK, before joining the team that set up the company’s new plant in Hungary, becoming product line manager for the plant once it was operational. In 1997 he moved back to the USA as a product strategy analyst, and then engineering manager, and product line manager, leaving for rack & pinion steering gear manufacturer Visteon in 2000. Three years later he joined Eaton Corp as the plant manager of its Three Rivers plant followed by a move to become business unit manager for its transmission and engine controls division and then supercharger and cylinder head operation. In 2012 he was recruited by Borg Warner as vice president for its Asian and European operations. He returned to Eaton as executive director of operations for Eaton Aerospace in 2014, before moving to ParkOhio the following year.

Garrison said: "I am pleased to welcome Darryl to the Terex Utilities team. He has successfully led and grown leading manufacturing businesses through all parts of the cycle. Starting out with a solid engineering foundation, he has devoted his career to building businesses serving global industrial end-markets. Darryl has developed teams that demonstrate continuous improvement, passion and resilience, while building strong relationships with stakeholders and partners."
