Shuttlelift upgrades SCD15

Manitowoc introduced an updated version of its 13.6 tonne Shuttlelift SCD15 carry deck crane at the ARA show yesterday.

Originally launched at the Rental Show in 2017, the SCD15 features a standard, three section 12.5 metre boom or an optional four section, full-power 15.4 metre boom. A 4.6 metre swingaway extension, offsetable by 30 degrees, is also available for a maximum tip height of 21 metres. The boom nose can pivot forward either 40 or 80 degrees for greater clearance height when lifting in low head room environments.

Upgraded with the rental market in mind, the SCD15 now features a redesigned lighter deck/platform, a larger cab with a ‘split cab door’ and sliding glass windows, LED lighting and a colour display for the rated capacity limiter. Additional features include proportional lever type controls, three steering modes and a number of storage boxes for hook blocks, rigging and tools. It is available with either a Tier IV final Cummins engine, that does not require diesel exhaust fluid, or a dual-fuel version that runs on either petrol/gasoline or propane.

Michael Heinrich, vice president of sales for boom trucks and industrial cranes, said: “The SCD15 has become one of the most popular cranes in the industrial crane rental market. We’ve made a number of enhancements to the crane that make it easier to use and provide more comfort for operators. Also, the redesigned platform makes the machine lighter, which enables for greater manoeuvrability and easier transport.”
