Vp acquires M&S Hire

UK rental group Vp has acquired M&S Hire in a cash all share purchase deal worth £2.8 million.

M&S was founded in 1984 and specialises in the rental of mobile alloy scaffold towers, push around lifts and podiums, with a focus on providing work at height solutions to contractors in the commercial fit out sector. It operates from a single location in Sittingbourne, Kent and focuses on the Greater London region.

The company is owned by Malcolm and Stuart Evans and has assets of around £1.8 million with a tangible net worth at the end of 2020 of £1.35 million.

Vp is the parent company of telehandler rental company UK Forks, spider lift specialist Higher Access, low level access company MEP and general rental business Brandon Hire. M&S Hire will be fully integrated into Vp’s MEP Hire division which is a strong player in the low level access market with nine dedicated locations in the UK.

Vp chairman Jeremy Pilkington said: “The acquisition of M&S is an excellent addition to our very successful MEP Hire business, and it will complement its existing operations with increased exposure to the commercial fit out sector. I am delighted to welcome the M&S team to Vp."
