3,000t ringer for BMS

Danish crane and aerial lift rental group BMS Heavy Cranes has ordered a 3,000 tonne Huisman electric powered ringer crane, with an option for a second unit.

The new crane uses a modular ring system allowing it to be used with a full 360 degree ring or quarter sections depending on site layout. It is said to be easily broken down for efficient road transport and that in many situations the crane can set up without an assist crane. It is also able to operate in higher wind speeds.

The new Huisman 3,000 tonne ring crane

The crane set-up has been optimised for work in the wind industry with the capacity to lift 1,200 tonne components to heights of up to 225 metres, as well as manage loads of up to 3,000 tonnes. The crane has been designed for installation on of the next generation of wind turbines both onshore and offshore and on floating foundations. Delivery is scheduled for the second half of 2023.
