Four new harbour mobiles for Noatum

Spanish port operator Noatum Terminals, which specialises in the management of port concessions and infrastructures, has taken delivery of three new 124 tonne Liebherr LHM420 Pactronic for its operations in Sagunto and Tarragona and a new 144 tonne LHM550 for Castellon.

The new cranes feature equipment that enables them to handle all types of cargo. They incorporate the latest technology and are more environmentally friendly offering low energy consumption.

Two of the LHM420 cranes - which feature a 48 metre boom/jib - will operate at the Sagunto terminal to improve productivity, handling up to 38 containers an hour, while be able to adapt to the handling of bulk goods and general cargo. A third LHM420 crane will operate from Tarragona, a facility specialising in handling agricultural products and bulk cargo.

The fourth crane - one the new LHM550s with a capacity of 144 tonnes and a 54 metre boom/jib - will be delivered to Castellon, a multipurpose terminal handling containerised cargo and project cargo, which also handles solid and liquid bulk shipments. The crane is part of a programme to increase the volumes going through Noatum’s concessions on the Dársena Norte docks. It will be optimised for bulk handling on Cape size class vessels, in addition to container handling and New-Panamax class vessels.

The first crane arrived at the Sagunto terminal on January 5th and will soon be operational. The other three units are due arrive over the next few months.

This latest investment adds to four mobile harbour cranes and six electric cranes at Sagunto, four mobile harbour cranes and two container cranes at Castellon and two mobile harbour cranes in Tarragona.
