Liebherr’s new 300 tonner

Liebherr has confirmed details of its new 300 tonne LTM 1300-6.3 with a new 90 metre main boom, within 12 tonne axle loads.

The six axle, single engine crane includes the company’s latest features including ECOmode, ECOdrive, VarioBallast and updated VarioBase Plus outrigger set up system which features a wider more variable rear outrigger spread - up to 9.4 metres - as well as Auto-Ballast. Maximum counterweight is 88 tonnes and designed to provide the maximum number of transport configurations. It can also operate with eight tonnes less ballast than the LTM1300-6.2 without compromising capacities.

The new Liebherr LTM1300-6.3

The LTM1300-6.3 also offers specific load charts for different wind speeds from nine metres a second, to 11.2 metres, 13.4 metres and even 15.6 metres a second, all of which can be programmed into the crane’s load management system. The crane has an overall length when fully equipped and stowed of 17.85 metres and features all-wheel steering. An optional central lubrication system automatically provides grease to 24 lubrication points on the chassis kingpins. A six LED rear lighting package is also available to illuminate the working area.

The current 300 tonne LTM 1300-6.2, - with its 78 metre boom which can also be used with a full luffing jib - will remain in the Liebherr All Terrain line-up, at least for the foreseeable future.
The new model has been designed with applications such as tower crane erection, antennae installation and wind turbine maintenance work. Its eight section 90 metre boom will not support a luffing jib, but it does offer a range of lattice extensions from the classic 11.5 to 20 metre bi-fold swingaway that offsets by up to 40 degrees to which two seven metre lattice inserts can be added between the boom nose and the swingaway which provides a maximum tip height of 121 metres.

Alternatively, a choice of two lattice extensions are available - a four to 39 metre in-line heavy duty extension for a maximum tip height of 126 metres, or a hydraulic luffing extension that can be built up from eight to 43 metres and offset by up to 45 degrees. Maximum tip height with this configuration is 105 metres. The lattice extensions come in two dimensions and are compatible with other Liebherr cranes.

The crane has also been designed to allow major components such as the boom and outriggers to be removed and installed quickly and easily to achieve axle loads of less than 12 tonnes. This includes what it refers to as ‘Tele-separation’, which enables individual telescopic boom sections to be removed and reinstalled very quickly. This provides a gross weight of less than 60 tonnes with axle loads less than 10 tonnes with two boom sections in place. A total weight of 43 tonnes is possible with boom and outriggers removed but lift cylinder left in situ.
