First diesel Jekko SPX650 goes to Spain

Jekko has delivered its first five tonne diesel/AC electric SPX650 spider crane to Spain.

The new model, the SPX650CDH, follows the launch of the lithium ion battery version of the crane in mid-2020 - See: Jekko reveals SPX 650.
This first diesel model has been purchased by Talleres Laguillo, a steel fabricator, boiler manufacturer and industrial maintenance company based in Cantabria in the North of Spain. The company was looking for a compact high performance crane that could reliably work indoors and outdoors, and the new model ‘fitted the bill’.

The SPX650CDH features a five section 15.4 metre full power main boom and is also equipped with a 5.9 metre four section hydraulic luffing jib for a maximum tip height of 23.5 metres at which it can handle 800kg. The maximum radius with the jib is 20 metres where it has a capacity of 150kg. The crane can also pick & carry up to 800kg through 360 degrees. The jib stows on board below the boom and within the superstructure frame, with the hook in placed and already rigged. When needed the jib slides out and can be pinned to the boom and hydraulics connected for very easy mounting, or it can be removed from the machine completely.

The tracks extend from an overall width of 980mm to 1.38 metres and as with the outriggers, can be set asymmetrically.

The new machine was purchased from Transgrúas, Jekko’s distributor for Spain. Sales manager Ian Trenzano said: “We are very satisfied we have sold the SPX650CDH. It's a very compact crane, with smooth yet ready operation, and after the SPX532 we were quite certain it would be a commercially successful product. It’s a highly performing model. We’ve already sold four units and three additional ones will soon follow. We think we can sell many more, in particular to rental companies, who have already shown their interest.”

Jekko’s head of sales Alberto Franceschini added: “Jekko is extremely satisfied on having delivered the first diesel powered SPX650 to Spain. Countries such as Spain and Italy are going through the ecological transition in a similar way. We are responsive to this topic yet aware that diesel still plays a major role. We have combined this latter with an electric motor to turn the SPX650CDH into a real eco-friendly yet inexhaustible crane for the Spanish and Italian yards. We like to define this model as the ‘machine for recovery’ that will surely have a great success on the Spanish market and everywhere.”
