New flagship for Q

UK crawler crane rental company Q Crane and Plant Hire has taken delivery of a 250 tonne Liebherr LR 1250.1 crawler crane, which becomes the largest crane in its fleet.

The new crane has been ordered with a 62 metre main boom and auxiliary sheave pack with associated hook blocks. The unit is equipped with a Stage V diesel and comes with a fully self-installing counterweight system, made up of 82 tonnes on the superstructure plus 36 tonnes of carbody ballast.

It has also been supplied with Liebherr’s new crane camera systems on the rear, side and winches as well as LiDAT telematics and ECO silent pack. It is also equipped with the new Gradient Travel Aid, which automatically calculates the machine’s centre of gravity to avoid dangerous operation.

Managing director Anthony Quinn said: “We have been very impressed so far with our five LTR cranes we purchased last year, this made the decision to go with the LR1250.1 a straight forward one. The strong duties, variety of configurations, fast set up times and the latest environmentally friendly Stage V engine gives Q Cranes customers the best all round package in this class.”

Q Crane - based in Oldham, Greater Manchester - was first registered as Q Plant Hire in 1972. The company now runs a fleet of telescopic and lattice crawler cranes and also offers a range of other construction equipment and attachments, as well as transport and haulage services. Until last year its fleet was almost entirely made up of Kobelco lattice models up to 135 tonnes, but decided to add more telescopics, taking delivery of its first five Liebherr cranes last May.
