Konecranes appoints new CEO

Finnish marine and industrial crane and handling equipment manufacturer Konecranes has appointed Anders Svensson,47, as chief executive he will take up the role by December 7th , if not before. In the meantime, chief financial officer Teo Ottola will continue to act as the Interim chief executive.

Svensson joins the company after 14 years with Sandvik, where he has been president of the Sandvik Rock Processing Solutions since last year. He has served as a president of various Sandvik divisions since 2015, prior to which he was chief purchasing officer for Sandvik Construction and Sandvik Mining.

A Swedish citizen and chemical engineer by education, Svensson began his career in 2000 as an R&D engineer with Svedala, moving to Metso Minerals in 2002 as a development manager for its Wear products division, leaving for Sandvik after three years.
