Unloading incident

A man was seriously injured earlier this week while unloading a spider lift from a trailer in Flattach, south central Austria.

It seems that the man, 59, and his son, 24, had used wooden planks as ramps to unload the machine, said to weigh less that two tonnes. Half way down the ramps, the nearest plank to the father broke, causing the machine to roll over to the side, with the basket striking the man on the back and pressing him to the ground.

The son was able to extract him and administer first aid while waiting for the emergency services arrive. When they did, they quickly decided to airlift him to a hospital. His condition is unknown
