25 JCB 360° telehandlers for CW

UK rental company Charles Wilson Engineers (CW Plant) has ordered 25 JCB 360 degree telehandlers in a deal worth £5 million. The largest single order for JCB 360 degree models so far.

The order, placed through local dealer Greenshields JCB, includes the 20.5 metre/5,500kg 555-210R machine and 25.5 metre/5,500kg 555-260R machines.

Both machines feature four section booms, with the larger model simply have slightly longer sections. The 555-210R can take 2.5 tonnes to its maximum lift height or handle 850kg at its maximum forward reach of 17.8 metres, total weight is 17,960kg. The 555-260R can managed two tonnes to full height and take 300kg to its maximum 21.5 metres of forward reach and weighs 19,400kg. Free on wheels they can lift 4.5 tonnes.
Power for both comes from a JCB Stage V Dieselmax engine with standard ‘Auto Engine Idle’ and ‘Auto Engine Stop’ as standard, helping reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. They also include automatic one touch completely variable outrigger deployment and a maximum road speed of 25mph/40kph.

Charles Wilson Engineers was established in 1978 in the town of Harpenden, Hertfordshire, as the result of a partnership between Charles Gallagher and David Wilson, using an unusual blend of their two names. As the company grew it expanded geographically to 31 locations from Newcastle in the north to Southampton in the south. It was an early entrant into the powered access market, and today runs the fifth largest telehandler fleet in the UK or Ireland with 1,172 units recorded in the Cranes & Access 2021 Top 30 Rental company survey.
