The new addition, purchased through Kato distributor Rivertek, features a 29 metre full power main boom, an 8.2 metre fully hydraulic underslung jib and 7.5 tonne searcher hook with power coming from a Stage V diesel.

Director Eddie McGovern said: “We are extremely pleased to re-invest in the Kato brand. This new CR-250Rv is fully loaded and we will cover a lot of work with it. It joins two new Liebherr’s which we are also adding as part of our fleet renewal programme. We need reliable cranes for our customers and that is what we have."

Ivan Bolster of Rivertek added: “We are delighted to supply this new crane to Eddie, Kieran and Tommy, they have probably taken every Kato that was on the market for more than 20 years including the first New Kato CR-130Rf in 2018 and run an extremely modern fleet of high spec cranes."

Established in 1995, family owned McGovern Crane Hire is based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire - between Nottingham and Derby - and has built the business steadily over the years, initially with used cranes, adding its first new crane in 2005, to celebrate the company’s 10th anniversary.

Today the McGovern fleet ranges from a 3.2 tonne Jekko SPX532 spider crane up to a 230 tonne Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 All Terrain and everything in between including self-erecting mobile tower cranes. The fleet also still includes a popular 60 tonne Kato NK600-RX truck crane.
